UCSD is considering merging or partnering with California Western School of Law, but some are concerned that Cal Western is too focused on teaching to fit into a research university.
Cocky Law Blawg brings us this note: The Legal Information Services to the Public (LISP) Special Interest Section of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) just completed its latest version of How to Research a Legal Problem: A Guide for Non-Lawyers. It’s available in PDF and Word formats from the LISP website.
An interesting paragraph from an article dealing with the idea of "Good Enough" -- services or products that may not have all the "bells and whistles" of their more-expensive competitors, but do enough at the right price to be runaway successes:
It turns out to be a remarkably efficient way of offering what Granat calls legal transaction services -- tasks that are document intensive. For everything from wills to adoptions to shareholder agreements, elawyering has numerous advantages.
Can a teaching-focused law school fit into a public research university?
